About this design
Nested diamonds are a graphic, mid-century-modern motif that suits a chunky-weight C2C throw. The four-colour palette is borrowed from 1970s pottery, cream, terracotta, teal and charcoal, but works in almost any swap. Try sage, mustard, navy and cream for a Scandi feel.
The pattern reads as concentric, outer cream, mid terracotta, inner teal, centre charcoal, so the colour changes happen at predictable distances from the centre. C2C makes this geometry easier than SC because the diagonals naturally follow the diamond edges.
Open in Bobble to scale up to a full sofa-throw size, the geometry will stretch cleanly without distortion.
Good for
- Sofa throw
- Wall hanging
- Statement cushion

Questions about this design
How many stitches is the Geometric Diamond chart?
30 by 30 squares, 900 stitches in total. Worked in corner-to-corner it comes out at about 75 by 75 cm (30 by 30 in).
What yarn do I need for the Geometric Diamond chart?
4 colours in DK-weight yarn. Open the full chart and Bobble estimates the metres and balls for each colour.
Can I make the Geometric Diamond chart in single crochet?
Yes. It is a colour grid, so it works either row by row or on the diagonal. Make Mode takes you through it in Corner-to-corner (C2C), and the grid is the same whichever you choose.
